This clinic focuses on civil rights issues affecting immigrants, prisoners and low-wage workers in Massachusetts. Students in the clinic have the opportunity to practice different models of lawyering, including individual client representation, as well as community and movement lawyering. Each student works in teams on a litigation matter and a community advocacy/policy matter. The clinic handles complex litigation in state and federal courts including class actions, which give students a unique opportunity to draft complaints that initiate lawsuits and engage in motion practice, brief writing, discovery, and negotiations.
