JOUR 2301
Journalism on Drugs · 1 instructor on record · 4 sections
That is the class itself, averaged across everyone who taught it. Who taught it, and how each of them scored, is the board below — that is what a student picking a section is actually choosing between.
Boston College's “intellectually challenging” question was not reported in these records, so there is nothing to show. That is missing data, not an easy class.
Boston College's workload question was not reported in these records, so there is nothing to show. That is missing data, not a light class.
Note to Journalism minors: this coursesatisfies the requirement for an elective with a "critical"orientation. The biggest public health crisis during the war on drugs was over legal drugs opioids which have killed over a million Americans. Drug policies, driven by irrationality and fear, have ruined countless lives. Journalists, wittingly or not, were partisans in this war, and often (though not always) ahead of the curve in advocating for change with regards to drugs, and to vice more generally. In this class we take a close look at the practice and tradition of drug journalism at a watershed moment in American history. Readings will include works by Chris Kraus, Hunter S. Thompson, Susan Orlean, Lawrence Osborne, Yvonne Adhiambo Owuor, Geoff Dyer, and others.

How to read this boardInstructors are ranked on their record in this class only, never on their average across everything they teach. Scores are out of 100 — Boston College's 1–5 agreement scale, ×20, the way these numbers were printed for years. Workload is BC's own five-band figure, not a number of hours, and is shown as a rank. A dash means the question was not reported, and is never a zero.
